Build a Workout Cool Down: The Game – My Life Feat. Lil Wayne

For a cooldown I selected The Game’s “My Life”. Two reasons. The first is I’m a big fan of Lil Wayne’s autotuned singing (Sacrilegious I know). The second is that a good emotional story is a great way to end a run, encouraging you to finish out those last couple minutes by keeping your brain occupied.

Song of the Day 12/10/12: Lil Wayne – Mirror Ft. Bruno Mars

I brought this song among a selection of others and listened to it a lot on the bus while traveling from city to city in Jamaica. Im a huge Bruno Mars fan and I was extremely happy to find him paired up with Lil Wayne. How this only ended up as a bonus track on Tha Carter IV, I dont know, but I’m glad I have a copy. Speaking of which, Bruno Mars’ new album released while I was in Jamaica! Cant wait to give it a listen and share my favorite tracks.

Song of the Day 09/29/12: Lil Wayne – Nightmares of The Bottom

I was really excited for Lupe’s Great American Rap Album and Kanye’s Cruel Summer. This is a positive music website, so all I’ll say is, I listened and turned back to this.  I love the simplicity of the piano and strings beat, and Weezy’s nonchalance.  What a breath of fresh air.  Sometimes you really just want music to be simple.

Song of the Day for 07/11/12: Lil Wayne – President Carter

I posted a retro song of the day earlier featuring Lil Wayne that expressed a desire to hear Tha Carter IV.  I decided to share my favorite track off of that album, now that it has been released.  I love the simplicity of “President Carter”.  The piano is perfectly chill and the beat is perfect for driving around at night to.  The way that President Carter’s speech is spliced into the song creates a more serious vibe too.

I also wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to share a really cool site I discovered recently.  RapGenius.com is a place where millions gather to share interpretations of different rap artists lyrics.  The site allows for breakdowns of line by line lyrics ,to help decrypt all those lyrics you once heard and had no idea what was being talked about.  Check out the breakdown of this song alone and you’ll definitely find that the lyrics that are a lot deeper than they seem on the surface.

Song of the Day 01/13/11: Flo Rida – American Superstar Feat. Lil Wayne

Let’s face it, Flo Rida isn’t the best rapper alive, but he did make a couple really good club hits and “American Superstar”.  Everyone has to agree that the true highlight of this track is Lil Wayne.  I wasn’t crazy about Lil Wayne till I heard “American Superstar”.  It converted me to a Weezy obsessed fan.  Some of his best work goes into the second verse of this song.  This is one of those songs you just have to blast real loud, and sing along to every lyric with your sister to the shock and horror of everyone else in the car (here’s lookin at you Ab).  I also love the end where Wayne sings, “I’m an American Superstar,” in typical Weezy fashion.  Can’t wait for Tha Carter IV.
