Song of the Day 11/09/12: Deftones – Knife Party

This one is old school. Bringing it back to the year 2000. Knife Party may be my favorite Deftones song. I remember the first time I heard it, I immediately put it on again. It starts out as a pretty standard Deftones experience. Haunting scratchy etherial vocals and lyrics, over some amazing drums and ambient guitar rifts. The song kind of makes me feel like I’m frozen, floating in the air. What I really want you to hear is the female vocal work around the 3 minute mark that continues into the end of the song. The notes that she hits are just… Wow. This is the kind of song that you cant ignore if it is on. I guarantee it is something you’ve never heard before. (Unless of course you’ve heard this song) It reminds me of  a twisted version of the vocals on “The Great Gig in the Sky” by Pink Floyd.
