Current Obsession 03/04/13: pomDeter – Call Me a Hole

There are good mashups and then there are ones that are so evil, they should never be shared. This is one of those. And yet here I am sharing it because I am obsessed! Thanks to my brother Josh for turning me onto it. Or maybe not! Who could ever conceive of mashing the super angry 90’s rage anthem “Head Like a Hole” with this decades cheesiest pop song “Call Me Maybe”?? Thankfully, Carly Rae doesnt get any singing time here. Instead we get Trent’s angry voice completely pacified by the pop cheese strings of “Call Me Mayby” in what will either be consider worthy of sainthood or damnation. As a pretty big Nine Inch Nails fan, I can say I have definitely gone the route of petitioning for sainthood. This is a brilliant Mashup. One of the best I’ve heard because it succeeds so well by mashing two songs to create an experience that you definitely wouldnt be able to get any other way. I love it. I’m seriously on my fifth straight listen right now. Happiest thing I’ve heard in a long time!

Song of the Day 12/22/12: M4SONIC – Weapon

And I thought no one else like Madeon would show up anytime soon! M4SONIC’s super remix of Skrillex’s “Weekends!!!” is every bit as stellar and shocking as Madeon’s “Pop Culture”. “Weapon” now has almost 5 million views and counting. I cant wait to see what else this new electronic Mash-up king can come up with. He definitely has my attention.

So… I’m going to post this message on every post for the next couple days. I got way behind due to being on vacation, work, and christmas shopping. I’m planning to post a ton of stuff now so I want to encourage you to check back and take a look at all the songs since Ill probably be posting at least 10 songs of the day in a two day period. Thanks for continuing to like, comment and share my little works.

Song of the Day 03/08/11: Norwegian Recycling – The Way Blast Barrels Are

Heres another song by Mash-up Master Norwegian Recycling. Of all the mash-up djs, Norwegian Recycling continues to make the best music. He created an album called Donkey Business in which he mashes up music from the Donkey Kong Country video game series with famous Hip-Hop and R&B artists. YES! For anyone else, it would be a gimicky ridiculous idea that would make you laugh, but for NR, its beautiful. I put up The Way Blast Barrels are because i love how he took the chill water level music to the Way I Are to make this really chill version of the song but in all honesty, there is SO MUCH variety on the album, one track really isnt enough. You can download all his albums for free off his website.

This is my tribute to the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES, but mainly to the man behind the great soundtrack, David Wise. He is one of my favorite musicproducers and have been a huge inspiration to me. All the tracks on the album are based on a sample from the soundtrack. Then I have mashed these samples to either hip hop or RnB acapellas. On top of this i have added alot of my own production like drumloops, basslines, effects, samples and synths.
